PM off to Goa to attend BRICS-BIMSTEC summit

DHAKA, Oct 16, 2016 (BN)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left here this morning for Indian southwest state of Goa to join BRICS-BIMSTEC Leaders’ Outreach Summit.

The two-day summit kicked off in Goa on Saturday with the theme ‘BRICS-BIMSTEC: A Partnership in Opportunities’.

A VVIP flight of Bangladesh Biman carrying the prime minister and her entourage members departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here for Goa at 8 am.

Ministers, parliament members and high civil and military officials were present at the airport to see the premier off.

The flight is scheduled to reach Goa Naval Base Airport at 10.30 am (Indian time).

Minister for Science and Technology of Goa Alina Saldanha, Secretary (coordination) of the government of Goa Padma Jaiswal, Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Syed Moazzem Ali and Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Mumbai Samina Naz will receive the prime minister at Goa Naval Base Airport.

The premier will attend BIMSTEC Leaders’ Retreat and BRICS-BIMSTEC Leaders’ Outreach Summit this afternoon.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Bangladesh premier will hold a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi tonight.

Sheikh Hasina will return home tomorrow morning.
