Tenure of defence chiefs being increased to four years

cabinetSecretariat Correspondent: The Cabinet has approved a proposal for increasing the tenure of chiefs of three defence forces to four years which was earlier three years.

The cabinet on Monday noon approved the draft law, Defence Forces Chief (recruitment, retirement and wages) Act–2016 under which the tenure of the post will be four years with the provision of no reappointment.

The meeting was held with Prime Minister Sheikh Haisna in the chair at the Secretariat.

Their salary has also been fixed at Tk 86,000 each which is equal to a senior secretary to cabinet secretary with seven kinds of facilities like residence and transport.
